Application of composite materials in high-speed rail

The application of composite materials on trains can be roughly divided into two categories according to the bearing characteristics: composite non-main bearing parts and composite main bearing parts. Among them, composite non-main bearing parts can be divided into main bearing parts (such as car bodies, floors, seats and other non-main bearing parts) and auxiliary parts (accessories such as washrooms, toilets, and water tanks). The load-bearing parts mainly refer to the large load-bearing components of the train such as the train body, the driver's cab and the bogie frame. It is the key to replacing traditional materials with composite materials and realizing lightweight vehicles.

Application of composite materials in high-speed rail

High-speed railway trains have become an important way for industrialized developed countries to alleviate the congestion of road, water transportation and air traffic. Many countries in the world, including China, have regarded the development of high-speed trains as an important goal of future train development. Nowadays, high speed, safety and comfort have become the focus of today's high-speed railway technology development. It is the goal of railway industry development to reduce the weight of EMU vehicles and increase the speed of EMU.

1. Application of composite materials in train auxiliary parts and general load-bearing parts

In the high-speed passenger cars used on the Shinkansen in Japan, glass fiber reinforced raw material (GFRP) composite materials are mainly used in window interior frames, washrooms, toilets, urinals, water tanks, toilet boxes, front covers, double-deck passenger cars The roof panels at both ends, the ceiling of the air-conditioning duct, and the side ceiling of the dining car air-conditioning cover. Similarly, TGV high-speed trains in France also use fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) to make floors, wall panels, door and window frames, seats and doors. On the Italian ETR500 high-speed train, all internal structural side walls, ceilings and luggage compartments use high specific stiffness composite sandwich panels.

2. The main load-bearing parts of the train made of composite materials

At present, fiber-reinforced composite materials are increasingly used in load-bearing structural parts, and their technology is basically close to practical applications. As the large load-bearing components of the train, the train drivers cab, car body and bogie frame account for a large proportion of the weight of the whole car structure. The body weight of the car body accounts for 15% to 35% of the cars own weight, and the bogie accounts for the weight of the cars own weight. 2 5%~35%. Therefore, these parts are the main research areas for applying new materials.

(1) The driver's cab of a high-speed train. Its front end shape needs to be made into a nose-like shape, which is both lightweight and impact resistant. Here, FRP has been widely used.

(2) Composite roof. The application of composite materials on the roof cover can lower the center of gravity of the vehicle and increase the stability of the vehicle body.

(3) Composite car body. The car body is divided into two types according to different processes: 1. The 2.1mm thick curved panel and the longitudinal beam are made into one body, and the pultruded CFRP outer plate is riveted to the aluminum alloy frame. 2. Two semi-circular car bodies with length 1000mm, width 3320mm and height 300mm are formed by hot pressing, and then riveted together.

(4) Composite bogies. The bogie of a rolling stock is an important component to support the car body and ensure the smooth running of the train. Its frame is a large-scale load-bearing component with particularly high requirements for strength and fatigue resistance.

Wuxi Pengda Haizhuo Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. (PHP) specializes in the production of hydraulic presses for composite products, which are mainly used to press SMC, GMT, LFT-D and other fiber-reinforced plastics. The press adopts a servo system, which is highly efficient and energy-saving, and runs stably. At the same time, it adopts environmental protection devices to create a good production environment for the molding workshop. In the past two years, PHP has focused on the research and development and innovation of composite material presses, and has made breakthroughs in various processes.
